After months of wishful thinking, it seems that Spin Master is finally giving organized play another chance. In true Spin Master "last-minute-gotcha-in-your-face" style, the Bakugan Battle League
was officially announced and will start July 24, 2010. It will be held every month until November 13, 2010 at participating Toys R Us locations across the US. The list of participating TRU locations is quite long and seem
to cover a good range stores as compared to the limited cities where Baku-con was held. The official website is
http://www.bakuganbattleleague.com and see
the list of participating Toys R Us locations from here
Screenshot of the Bakugan Battle League site with Master Luke giving a short intro about the League
From the look of the site, it seems than Spinmaster has been planning this league for sometime now and while no news came out early, we are just happy that this type of organized play is finally being tried
out by Spinmaster. We are hoping that this league will give the game a much needed boost and finally give local brawlers something to look forward to every month for the rest of year.
Here is a cool video of Master Luke by Brawler Rob (Thanks for letting us post the video!) from the BakuganBuzz.
He was able to do a mini interview with Master Luke about the Bakugan Battle League after seeing him at his League.
Format (Updated)
Lord Darkus from the official Bakugan Community Forums has informed us that the rules for the Bakugan Battle League will be the rules from the Bakugan Season 3 Rulebook. This is a good update since we now can follow
a good set of rules for playing with other brawlers and the younger brawlers can be informed on what rules they need to learn or use.
Here is the message from Lord Darkus:
"The rules that should be used in the Bakugan Battle Leagues are those that are set forth in the Bakugan Season 3 Rulebook included with
Bakugan products. You can also download a PDF copy here: "http://www.bakugan.com/gameplay/pdf/S3_Rules_Sheet_02_Eng.pdf"
Particpants will be provided with an league book / stamp sheet, membership card, and a promo card and each participant will get 1 stamp from the League Manager for playing 1 match and 2 stamps for the winner of the match. Participants
are also required to choose a character (Shun and Ace for 1st League) and each stamp they get on their stamp sheet counts as a vote toward the participant's chosen character. At the end of the event, the League Manager will tally
all the votes and the winning character will determine the promo card that will be given away for the next League. The event time is 2 hours and you can brawl as much as you want. The more brawls the better since each stamp
will give your chosen charater more chances of winning the event for that date.

Locations and Time
The time for the event is from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Remember not all Toys R Us location will host the event so make sure you check the list on Spinmaster's battle league website for the nearest participating TRU. We are also keeping our fingers crossed that
the person-in-charge of the event actually knows the game, the rules and any other Bakugan game related information. Spinmaster is also allowing official bakugan community members to take pictures or videos of the event.
They even went as far as to setup some guidelines and they are providing some official bakugan photo and movies assets that you can use to enhance your media creations. All content is only allowed to be posted on the official community site
but everyone is welcome to cover their local league.
Age Limit / Restrictions
LordDarkus, who is one of the official community forum administrators, has posted on the official forum that there will be no age limits. So good news for our adult and older players.
We still have no official word on the set and gameplay restrictions but Admin BrightLight hinted on one of the forum topics that the tournament rules (where the heck are the tournament rules? Can anyone can email us the URL?)
will be used but did mention that we'd have to check with the participating store on how they want to run the event.
Bakugan Battle League Tips
What to bring
Bring your best Bakugan and strongest Ability cards. The events are also a good opportunity to get some good trades so don't forget to bring your tradables. We also advise to bring your Bakugan brawling gear with
a proper container, bag or carrying case. It can be any type of container , bag or case as long as it can hold your cards and Bakugan. Things can get a little out of hand with a lot of kids have their gear just
literally laid out on the tables (and some have tons of cards and Bakugan marbles) and you want to avoid losing your gear or getting it mixed up with other player's gear.
Learn the basic rules
Get out your rulebook and read the basic rules. We also would recommend reading the Official Bakugan FAQ as a majority of kids were asking questions that have already been clarified or addressed by Spin Master. If you can
print the FAQ then much better since the League Manager can be totally clueless on the rules too.
Practice Rolling
A lot of the kids had trouble landing their Bakugan on the gate card and practicing your roll can really help. Winning by double standing (two of your Bakugan on the same gate card wins you that gate card) is a much better
way to winning the Match. Even the best strategies will never work if the player can't land his Bakugan on the gate card.
Bakugan Battle League FAQ
Is the event free?
Yes the event is free. All you need to do is show up and bring your bakugan, trap, battle gear and Bakugan cards.
I only have Series 1 or Season 2 New Vestroia or B3 series Bakugan and cards. Can I still participate?
Yes. Spin Master has still no official word regarding restricting the any playable sets or series.
What rules will be used? (Updated)
The gameplay rules for the Bakugan Battle League will be the rules from the Season 3 Gundalian Invaders Rulebook. You can get a PDF copy of this rule book from this link.
Do we win prizes?
No. These events are not tournaments but more of a casual play event. Brawlers can come and simply enjoy brawling with other players. Promo cards and other goodies like the League wristband are given out.
I missed the first or previous event. Can I still go to the next one?
Yes. The more brawlers the merrier! The only thing you'll miss will be the promo card since they are different for every event or date. Just bring some tradables since you might be lucky enough to find a participant or brawler that
has an extra copy of the previous promo cards.
I went to one participating TRU and they have no clue about the event. How can I make sure they will be having the event next time?
Unfortunately Spin Master has no control if the store will actually hold the event. We recommend that you call your participatig TRU location a couple of days before the
next scheduled event or the morning of the actual event date and check in with the store. If they are not going to hold the event then at least you will not waste
your time driving there or you can find an alternative location.
Im not too sure about the rules. Can I still play?
Technically the League Manager should be able to assist you but you'll find other brawlers who are more than willing to help you with the rules.
